There is something for everyone: parents, teens, youth, and caregivers! As PAK celebrates 11 years, we are enriching our community with numerous educational and fun events for our families.

  • SOMETHING FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY: YOGA NIGHT! Friday, February 3, 7pm-8pm at Be Yoga, Carmel location, 7510 Pineville Matthews Rd, Ste 2B, Charlotte, North Carolina 28226 Tracy Mott with BeYoga will be leading a workshop to enable our families to deal with today’s stresses. The workshop will include yoga poses, breath work, guided meditation, and reflection. Participants will feel refreshed with the tools to use in everyday life. This is for all families living with allergies, parents, siblings welcome to participate. This event was made possible through a community award from Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE). A donation of 5$ per family is requested but not required. (checks payable to Parents of Allergic Kids mailed to PO Box 1634 Indian Trail, NC 28079 to secure space)IMG_20160430_143323275

  • SOMETHING FOR PARENTS WANTING TO CONNECT AND ASK QUESTIONS TO ALLERGISTS AND PEDIATRICIANS Bridging the Gap: Patients, Pediatricians, and Allergists Unite on Saturday, February 4, 2:00 PM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy Dr. Jennifer Caicedo with Food Allergy Institute of Charlotte and Dr. Rachel Wiese with Charlotte Pediatric Clinic will lead our first educational session of Bridging the Gap between allergy families and their pediatricians and allergists. We are working with local physicians to improve care for everyone, whether you are newly diagnosed or have been managing allergies for years. Let us know what topics you would like to discuss and what information you are looking for so the doctors may shape this discussion to be more integrative and informative!   • SOMETHING FOR PARENTS LOOKING TO MAKE OUR ALLERGY COMMUNITY STRONGER WITH MORE OUTREACH Planning Meeting for Parents Sunday, February 12th at 2:00 pm, at the Starbucks in Ballantyne, NC at StoneCrest at 7922 Rea Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277 We want to bring everyone together to begin to plan and strategize together for PAK and IMPAKT in 2017. We will discuss what meetings, events, advocacy, outreach our group will do in the coming year. This Starbucks is on the corner of Ballantyne Commons and Rea Rd, near Target in Stonecrest Shopping Center, easy to hop on/off I-485

  • SOMETHING FOR YOUTH AND TEENS LOOKING TO ASK QUESTIONS TO AN ALLERGIST AND DISCUSS ANYTHING THEY HAVE GOING ON WITH A THERAPIST Thursday, February 16, 6:00 - 8:00 pm Special Youth Guided Workshop Series for ages 8-18 with Dr. Michael Lapuente from Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center and Jon Eccleston, MSW from Carolina’s Therapy Solutions. This will be an amazing opportunity for our children and teens to have a chance to ask a board certified allergist questions during the guided therapy session. The workshops will cover all aspects of dealing with a severe allergy diagnosis in an age appropriate manner. Topics to be covered but are not limited to: stress, anxiety, dealing with friends, schools, outside activities, autoinjector management and the like.The workshops will be held at the Waverly office of Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center located at 11840 Southmore, Charlotte 28277.   • SOMETHING FOR CAREGIVERS WHO WANT TO RECONNECT AND “GET ON THE SAME PAGE” WITH THEIR ALLERGY MANAGEMENT: MANAGING ALLERGIES AS A FAMILY WITH JON ECCLESTON, MSW FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 7:00 - 9:00 pm St Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28277 Held in the New Life Center Room 239/240 Challenges can arise parenting a child with severe allergies when partners disagree. Bring your partner and join us to talk about: Opposing views on management, carrying epinephrine, treatment, less date nights and quality time together, guilt for parenting non allergic siblings differently.   • SOMETHING FOR TEENS LOOKING FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS AND PARENTS LOOKING TO BROWSE THROUGH VENDORS OF GLUTEN AND ALLERGY FRIENDLY PRODUCTS, SERVICES, and RESTAURANTS MARCH 18, 10 am - 4:00 pm GLUTEN AND ALLERGEN FREE WELLNESS EVENT PAK and IMPAKT crew will have a table and kids corner to fellowship and play games with the children while parents visit vendor tables and attend educational sessions.
